Have you heard about this movie? Cause I hadn’t. I only realized it existed because I was looking for something new to watch, so I started going through a list of my favorite actors to see what things they’ve been in lately. I came across this when looking at Adam Brody’s credits. So I decided to watch the trailer.
Someone dropped the freakin’ ball on this one cause it’s amazing! I can’t believe I’d never heard of it before! It really sucks that it’s not on Netflix or any of the other popular streaming services right now. Currently it’s only available for rent on services like Amazon Prime, Youtube, Google Play, and Apple TV, etc. It’s only $4.99-5.99 to rent it, but still. I think most people would rather just watch it on a streaming service vs paying for a rental. I mean, I get it. If they were hoping to have a big theatrical release, and had contracts and stuff for that then they were hoping to make their money back in theatres, not on a streaming service. Then 2020 happened and really screwed them. So I get why it’s not on a streaming service right now. But still. Kinda sucks. I feel like this movie didn’t get what it deserves. Hopefully Netflix or something picks it up eventually and gives it a better reach.
So, what’s it about? Well, it’s about a dude clinging to his past glory days. At 12 years old he was a well-known Kid Detective in his small town. Solving cases like a boss. Now he’s a washed up 32-year-old that no one takes seriously since he couldn’t solve the one major case of his missing friend. But now, someone’s offered him a new case. A murder case. Can he solve it? Or has he lost his touch?
Adam Brody is great in this. The pacing is good. It’s funny. It’s smart. It’s fun. I loved it. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Hands down. And that’s saying a lot, since I’ve seen A LOT of movies. Especially this past year.
I’d say if you’re looking for something to watch, this one is definitely worth the rental fee.
Until next time,
